This book presents a collection of algorithms and VLSI architectures of entropy (or statistical) codecs of recentvideo application standards, with concentration on a H.264/AVC standard. For any visible information application scheme, thereexists a mixed of one, two, or all of a following 3 stages: spatial, temporal, and statisticalcompression. General readers are initial introduced with a several algorithms of a statistical coders. The VLSIimplementations are also reviewed and discussed.

A customary pattern of a Context-based Adaptive Binary Arithmetic Coding (CABAC) encoder is alsopresented in details. To support System-on-Chip pattern environment, a CABAC pattern is wrapped with a SoC-basedWishbone complement train interface.
